West Lodge

There is a hot tub outside on the decking, as well as a BBQ and outdoor dining area.

West Lodge is only a few moments walk from the shore of Loch Insh, where you can swim or even hire our boat for rowing or fishing.

West Lodge was originally the gate house for Dunachton Lodge, and in fact was designed by the same architect. It was built in 1860 and remains B-listed. We renovated the lodge in 2020 to create a romantic little bolthole for two. There are historic features galore at this adorable little cottage, including arched windows, crow-stepped gables and a delightful Clan MacPherson heraldic cat carving by the front door.

Inside, there is a bright bedroom with a kingsize bed, a bathroom with a bath and shower, and a living room with a cosy wood burning stove. There is a dining room with seating for 4, and a well-equipped modern kitchen with dishwasher, butlers sink, oven, fridge and washing machine. From the living room and bedroom you can enjoy wonderful views of the Cairngorm Mountains - stunning in any season!
