On the water
Only 10 minutes drives from Kincraig House, Loch Insh is the place to go for sailing, canoeing and kayaking, paddleboarding and windsurfing. You can also try Loch Morlich for boat hire. G2 Outdoors, Full on Adventure and Active Outdoors can arrange activities such as kayaking, canyoning and rafting for half day or full day trips too.
On the snow
Cairngorm Mountain is the nearest ski area to Kincraig House, although The Lecht, Glenshee and the Nevis Range are all easy to travel to for a day trip if you prefer. There are also cross country ski tracks cut around Loch Morlich when the snow level is low enough. Why not try sledging at the locals' favourite spot - The Hayfield (on the ski road).
Sports
There is a huge variety of sports available in this part of the Cairngorms. You can play golf at Carrbridge, Aviemore, Newtonmore and Boat of Garten. At Rothiemurchus you can play tennis, go clay shooting, fish for trout in their fishery or go horse riding. There is fantastic mountain biking at Laggan Wolftrax or Glenlivet trail centres, or enjoy a more leisurely ride along the Speyside Way. Try cycling the Old Logging Way towards Glenmore and stop at Loch Morlich and Loch an Eilein on the way.
Walks
There are countless walks to be undertaken in the area - from leisurely family-friendly rambles incorporating stops for cake and tea, to arduous scrambles, ascents and long-distance hikes where specialist equipment is advised, particularly in winter. For a pretty exhaustive list, try WalkHighlands.
Cultural and historical sites
The Cairngorms National Park and the surrounding Highlands are home to some beautifully romantic and historic castles and palaces. From Braemar Castle and Balmoral to the east, Blair Castle to the south, and Cawdor, Urquhart and Ballindalloch Castles to the north, this is a region with centuries of history, turmoil and intrigue.

You have a huge range of distilleries to visit on a day trip from the estate - from our closest, Speyside Distillery near Insh, which produces Spey Whisky as well as Byron's Gin, to Tomatin just off the A9 to the north, Dalwhinnie to the south and Glenlivet near Tomintoul, plus many more.
